Most Meets are at Westside Pool with warm-up starting at 3:30 pm (sharp!).
    The competitive part starts typically at 4:30 pm, but this start time may shift
       as it depends on several variables (including the weather).
        (Westside Pool: H. Spurgeon Cherry Pool, 1001 NW 31st Drive, Gainesville, 32605)

All practices at the NE pool, 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. 
    (NE Pool: Dwight H. Hunter Pool, 1100 NE 14th Street, Gainesville, 32601)
    Need:  Practice suit, goggles, towel, water, sunscreen, flippers,
        work out clothes, and supportive work out shoes.

GHS Swim and Dive Team Reclassified to 2A by FHSAA
    During their Spring 2009 Meetings, the FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association)
announced the classification assignments for the 2009-10 & 2010-11 school years. 
The GHS Swim/Dive Team moved down from a 3A to a 2A classification.  We are now in
Region 2 and District 4 of this classification (see http://www.fhsaa.org/assignments/sw.htm). 
This is exciting news for us.  This means we are now participating in a District and a Region
that is not as deep in faster times or higher dive scores.  This will allow more chances for
our swimmers and divers to advance beyond Districts.  With our current team make up,
Rob and I are VERY optimistic of a strong presence at Districts, and hopefully Region,
and more opportunity to advance our student-athletes to the State meet.

Fri Oct 2        GHS  FOOTBALL  GAME
                      We would like the Swim/Dive team to go to the game together 
                      in our polo shirts to show off our spirit as a group.  
                      (Polos should be here by Oct 1)
                      Let’s see who can cheer louder Yvette or Rob….
                      Also let’s sit by the band and show our swimmers in uniform some support.
 
Sat Oct 3      GARAGE SALE
                     Details coming soon, but start saving and pricing your items.  I would like
                     everyone who does not have a year round meet to come and bring items.
                     We will be in the GHS front parking lot so it is very busy the whole morning.

Sat Sept 26    The Rob Ramirez City Swim and Dive Meet:
                    Swimming - 9:00 am - Westside pool
                    Diving - 9:00 am - NE pool
                    Warm up for both begins at 8:00 am
                    The Gators do not play til 6:30 so parents you can come to the meet.
                    You are recommended to buy heat sheets at this meet.  It gets confusing.
                    Also bring chairs, sun visors, sun screen, tents, swim gear and food.
                    Come early if you want to be anywhere near the pool.

CANCELLED:  Team Building Event and New Member Orientation
Scheduled for Saturday, May 30 has been CANCELLED.
    Due to the recent passing of their stepfather, Coach Rob and Coach Yvette will be attending the
Memorial Service on Saturday, May 30.  The thoughts and prayers from the extended
GHS Swim and Dive Team Family are with our Coaches and their Families at this time.

GHS Letter Jackets and related items:
Call Dan Alford (352-494-7199) during business hours (before 7 pm preferred),
and he will explain the various options and prices.
